CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - St. Vincent-St. Mary High School canceled their football game scheduled for Friday.

The cancelation comes after several players on the varsity football team were injured. Some players even had season ending injuries, according to a release from the school.

The school said some players have also gotten a bacterial skin infection.

The school consulted with Akron Children’s Hospital and decided to cancel this week’s game.

“This decision allows the team to focus on player recovery and evaluate the path forward for the remainder of the season,” the release said.

The school tells 19 News they will continue to give updates as they become available.
