MENTOR, Ohio (WOIO) - Criminal charges may be pressed after a dog attacked a 4-year-old girl and her mother, the city of Mentor confirmed.

The Mentor police and fire departments were sent to a home in the 8100 block of Rushton Drive at 1:31 p.m. on Oct. 4, City of Mentor Communications Officer Ante Logarusic stated.

That’s where they found the mother had been bit, and daughter injured from the attack, according to Logarusic.

Mentor Fire Rescue took the girl to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital “due to the nature and extent of the injuries” she suffered, Logarusic said.

Her current condition is unknown at this time.

Logarusic said the Mentor Police Department is working with the Lake County Dog Warden to see if any criminal charges apply as the investigation continues.
