Two people have been safely rescued after a small plane went down Tuesday afternoon in Everglades National Park, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said both individuals onboard the aircraft were not trapped but became stranded in a remote area.

Earlier, MDFR said, "Due to the remote location and difficult terrain, air rescue is going to conduct a hoist operation to safely remove the persons from the area."

Chopper 4 cameras showed the rescue operation.

Authorities first received reports of an aircraft down earlier Tuesday.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said air rescue units were dispatched after receiving a call reporting a plane with two people onboard had gone down.

The incident remains under investigation.
