SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A Pierre mail carrier, who admitted to cashing in on other people's Menards rebates, will not have to serve prison time.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte sentenced Nicholas Travers to one year of unsupervised probation. He'll also have to pay restitution.
While working for the post office, Travers would take mail being sent to Menards’ rebate center in Elk Mound, Wisconsin.
He'd then fill out new forms and send them in along with the stolen receipts, so that he would receive the rebates.
Travers pleaded guilty to mail theft in July and other charges were dropped.
