NORMAN — If John Mateer is unable to play against Texas on Saturday, it’ll be Michael Hawkins Jr. under center once again for No. 5 Oklahoma.
Hawkins filled in for the injured Mateer against Kent State last weekend and had an up and down performance versus the Golden Flashes.
He completed just 14-of-24 passes (58.3%) for 167 yards, but three for three touchdowns and added a fourth on the ground.
Offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle has since watched the tape and has a good idea of what adjustments he needs to make to prepare Hawkins for OU-Texas.
