TIGARD, Ore. — A bicyclist is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Tigard Tuesday morning, city police reported.

The crash happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Highway 99W just north of Southwest Walnut Street, according to a press release from Tigard Police.

Witnesses told officers that the bicyclist — only identified as a 48-year-old man — rode across the southbound lanes and struck a car that was driving north. Witnesses helped perform CPR until first responders arrived, and the man was rushed to a hospital.

"Officers do not believe the driver was at fault, and while this was a tragic incident, investigators do not believe it to be criminal," Tigard Police said.
