As Tropical Storm Octave weakened near the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico, on Monday, Hurricane Priscilla intensified off the coast, west-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, prompting the Miami-based National Hurricane Center to issue a tropical storm watch for Baja California Sur, from Cabo San Lucas to Cabo San Lázaro.
On Tuesday, Priscilla continued to intensify in the Pacific, nearing Category 3 strength, even as a new tropical storm took shape in the Atlantic, the Center said.
Tropical Storm Jerry, which formed on Tuesday and is centered about 1,315 miles east-southeast on a path towards the Caribbean, is expected to strengthen into a hurricane in the coming days.
