A Staatsburg man was killed Oct. 6 when his motorcycle collided with a horse, New York State Police said.
The horse also died in the collision.
The crash happened at approximately 4:15 a.m. Oct. 6 near the intersection of Route 9G and North Creek Road in the Town of Clinton.
According to state police, a preliminary investigation determined a 2007 Chappy motorcycle operated by Crain M. Butler, 48, of Staatsburg, was traveling north on Route 9G when it struck a horse in the roadway.
The impact of the crash threw Butler off his motorcycle.
Despite life-saving measures provided by responding emergency service workers, Butler was pronounced dead at the scene.
The horse also died as a result of its injuries, state police said.
