Bristol Rovers beat a fully-rotated Cheltenham Town side 1-0 in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday night to remain second in their group.

Luke Thomas scored the only goal of the night with a sweetly struck finish into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box, his third of the season.

The Gas began the livelier of the two sides, Fabrizio Cavegn having two early chances, the first hitting the side netting and the second forcing a save out of Mamadou Diallo in between the sticks.

Efforts from Thomas and again Cavegn topped off the first half before came out for the second half, again pushing for the opener.
