BARABOO, Wis. -- An 84-year-old man died on Sunday after a fall while rock-climbing at Devil's Lake.

Baraboo Assistant Fire and EMS Chief Mark Willer said the man fell approximately 25 feet and died on the north end of West Bluff. Baraboo Fire and EMS were called to the area just after 11:30 a.m.

Willer noted following the man's passing a high-angle rescue was used, meaning vertical ropes are used along a rock wall.

Life-saving measures were provided by paramedics, but he died at the scene from his injuries.

Willer reported the department does not receive many calls in regards to rock-climbing accidents.
