Christ Church of the Ascension will host a Concerts at Christ Search event, “Basso Ostinato,” at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, in the main church, featuring CCA Music Director Tigran Buniatyan on organ and harpsichord.

The title of this concert, Basso Ostinato (also known as Ground Bass), refers to a foundational musical technique common to both Renaissance and Baroque music, according to a press release, and later echoed in jazz. A short, repeating bass line provides the structure for the musical piece, allowing musicians the opportunity to improvise and embellish freely above it and explore new harmonies, textures, and ornamentation.
