COBB COUNTY, Ga. — William Armstrong drives along I-285 four to five times a week, and he said it's usually backed up the majority of the time.
"It's more like a parking lot," Armstrong said. "Traffic is so backed up in all lanes that you have to slow down to 20 to 30 miles per hour if you're moving."
The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to install four express lanes, two in each direction, on I-285, extending from Mt. Wilkinson Parkway in Cobb County to Benjamin E. Mays Drive in Fulton County. The goal is to alleviate congestion along the 10-mile stretch.
