WALLINGFORD, Conn. — As the government shutdown lingers on, a food bank serving the people of Connecticut is committed to continuing its distribution of critical meals.
On Monday, Connecticut Foodshare announced it has authorized $1 million in emergency funding in response to the government shutdown.
The food bank based out of Wallingford distributes food to more than 480 agency partners, including food pantries, community kitchens and shelters. It also assists more than 100 mobile food pantry locations.
In a release, Connecticut Foodshare officials say the operation is preparing to take emergency action to ensure the community has access to all the food it needs.
