WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently released statistics showing that southern border apprehensions dropped to their lowest since 1970 during the 2025 fiscal year.

“This feat is a testament to the Trump Administration’s success in restoring control at the border,” DHS wrote in a press release.

The 2025 fiscal year began on October 1, 2024 and concluded on September 30, 2025. President Trump was sworn into office on January 20, 2025.

237,565 total people were apprehended at the southern border during the 2025 fiscal year, the lowest since 1970. DHS reported that a majority of these apprehensions were under the Biden administration.
