PORTLAND, Ore. — In a letter sent Tuesday, Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek said she called on a high-ranking U.S. military leader to demobilize both Oregon and California National Guard troops currently in limbo after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from deploying them in Portland.
The governor's letter was addressed to Gen. Gregory Guillot, OPB reported , commander of U.S. Northern Command, which has been in charge of guard troops from both states since the Trump administration federalized them under Title 10 — since June, in the case of the California troops, and since Sept. 28 for the Oregon troops.
