MISSION, Ore. — One week into the federal government shutdown, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation say tribal operations remain stable and essential services continue without interruption.
In a statement Friday, the CTUIR Board of Trustees said the tribe’s structure allows it to operate responsibly and maintain programs without relying solely on federal funding.
“Tribal programs and services remain stable and are operating as usual,” the board said.
While federal agencies are experiencing communication delays that could slow the flow of information to tribes, CTUIR officials said each department is tracking developments and will keep members informed of any funding changes.
