PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — The Prince George's County police and sheriff's departments are teaming up in an effort to reduce domestic violence .

County law enforcement said carjackings, robberies and murder rates are all down in the county, but they want to try something new to reduce domestic violence.

Prince George’s County Sheriff John Carr said in September alone there were more that 1,300 protective orders issued in the county.

On Tuesday, the Prince George’s County Police Department and Sheriff's Department signed an official partnership agreement. Moving forward they will work together on domestic violence calls in districts 3 and 8.

Chief of Police George Nader said the collaboration will help more residents access support, resources, and education.
