The National Weather Service is alerting the public of minor coastal flooding on all Hawaiian islands during early morning high tides through Friday.
“Peak monthly tides combined with water levels that are running higher than predicted will lead to minor flooding along the shoreline and in low-lying coastal areas,” said the NWS. “Coastal flooding is possible around the daily peak tide, which will be during the early morning hours.”
This may result in the flooding of beaches that are normally dry, minor coastal erosion and saltwater inundation.
The public is advised to avoid driving through flooded roadways, to ensure mooring lines don’t get too tight at boat harbors, and to move electronics, vehicles or other valuables to higher ground.
