STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— By the slimmest of margins, the McKee/Staten Island Tech girls’ swim team edged Curtis, 45-44, on Monday — continuing its string of nail-biters following a 44-44 tie with Susan Wagner and a 41-37 win over Petrides.

The Seagulls were led by strong performances from Alina Liu, who won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:36.76 and the 500 freestyle in 6:57.23. Ashley Li also contributed with wins in the 100 butterfly (1:27.40) and 100 breaststroke (1:27.97).

The Warriors had impressive showings from Kathryn Karounos, who finished second in both the 200 freestyle (2:50.16) and 500 freestyle (8:13.83). The Warriors also won the 200 freestyle relay in 2:23.09.
