CHICAGO (CNN) - The battle continues between the city of Chicago and the Trump administration.
On Tuesday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called on an Illinois judge to halt what he called President Donald Trump’s “illegal” move to deploy the National Guard.
“They won’t have policing powers. We know that they can’t arrest,” Johnson said. “So, whatever their order is, I believe this is what the judge is asking for. Make the case first and then what would be the specific assignments? The president has not proven either of those standards, and this is why you know I’m going to remain hopeful that the judge carries out what the judge did in Oregon, which this is unconstitutional. It’s illegal and it’s dangerous.”
