A man survived a 300-foot fall near Prospect after a successful rescue operation led by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Technical Rope Team on Oct. 4.
At 2:19 a.m., witnesses told dispatchers they could hear a man calling for help from the base of a Rogue River canyon cliff in the 1100 block of Mill Creek Drive, according to a news release .
Deputies arrived on scene and determined that a high-angle rope rescue was required due to the "sheer canyon walls and inability to access the man from below," officials said.
The team used 400 feet of rope and a litter to transport the injured man up the cliff walls. Rescue volunteers lowered rescuers and then raised the man up the cliff to safety.
