LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department says a local pastor has admitted to scamming senior citizens in the area “thousands of times.”

Virgil Mozee and his friend, Nathaniel Porter III, were arrested Sunday after police say they were caught on camera stealing the wallets out of shopping carts being used by women in their 70s and 80s.

“They were obviously preying on elderly females that were shopping,” Sergeant Joe Keeling with the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD)’s Third Division said.

Sergeant Keeling said surveillance video shows Mozee, who is the pastor at The New Christian Church of Jesus Christ in Hazelwood, and Porter would go into Louisville grocery stores, push carts around as if they were shopping, find a victim, snatch their wallet and leave.
