An incarcerated person is accused of bringing drugs into a Redwood City jail and providing them to another inmate, which allegedly caused them to overdose, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday.
Sheriff officials report they were notified of a medical emergency at the Maple Street Correctional Center in Redwood at around 6 a.m. on Sept. 29.
Upon arrival, the sheriff’s office said responding deputies administered lifesaving measures to the victim, including administering Narcan as a precaution, as medical staff inside the facility arrived. However, despite these efforts, the incarcerated person was pronounced deceased.
According to the sheriff’s office, the person was identified as 31-year-old Markeisha Monique Renee Blount.
The sheriff’s office said further investigatio
