WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Repairs are on the way after the Wichita City Council approved $60,000 in repairs to fix a broken ammonia compressor. The broken compressor has limited the Wichita Ice Center to running a single ice rink, as opposed to its normal two.

The decision was unanimous, despite some concerns about the ice center's long history of equipment malfunctions. City council member Dalton Glasscock said it was a valuable city asset.

"We know we have to invest in the infrastructure that we have and the facilities that we have right now. So, I think we know there's a problem. The problem has to be fixed pending current legal action as well, which we can't really discuss today. Pending that, we just want to make sure we're making investments in property the city owns," he said.
