WASHINGTON, D.C. — After U.S. President Donald Trump said Prime Minister Mark Carney would be leaving his latest round of trade discussions at the White House “very happy,” Carney’s cabinet representative around the negotiating table said both leaders had directed their teams to “quickly land deals.”

Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc declined to put a timeline on when that work may conclude, but said discussions were more “detailed” than they had been in the past and suggested talks would continue Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning, when Carney is set to return to Ottawa.
