SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A new study by WalletHub has ranked Springfield in its study of best and worst cities in the nation for people with disabilities.

The study evaluated 182 of the most populated U.S. cities based on factors such as economy, quality of life and health care.

Springfield ranked 32nd in economy, 67th in quality of life and 64th in health care, for an overall "39th" rank in the study.

According to the Social Security Administration, the average monthly disability benefit as of August 2025 was $1,445.72 — a yearly income of $17,348.64, only slightly above the federal poverty line for a single individual at $15,650.
