SUFFOLK, Va. — A Suffolk mother has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the Suffolk School Board and a bus driver after she says her child suffered a beating on the bus .

Elizabeth Feagans says her 10-year-old son, a student at Mack Benn Jr. Elementary School, came home from school trembling and in tears, barely able to tell his mother about the assault.

When she got her son checked out at the hospital, they found he had two broken vertebrae and swelling in his neck.

“They were even questioning how it happened, because typically this is more of a car accident or high-impact sort of injury. So, it took a lot of force,” Feagans told 13News Now last week.

Suffolk police have said charges against an 11-year-old are pending.
