WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, the Prince George's County State's Attorney, Tara Jackson, announced that Hugo Hernandez-Mendez, 35, has been indicted on common law murder, tampering with physical evidence, and burying/disposing of a body in an unauthorized place.

“Today’s indictment marks a critical step in the criminal justice process,” Jackson said. “Thank you to our law enforcement partners and attorneys for their work on this case.”

Hernandez-Mendez was arrested on Sept. 5 in Bowie after police said he killed Thompson in his bedroom.

The Maryland State Police had opened a death investigation after a woman's body was found in a grassy area off of Route 50 in Anne Arundel County on Sunday.
