ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A teaching assistant in Edgecombe County is facing charges for allegedly choking a student with a disability on Sept. 12.
The sheriff's office said the Edgecombe County Public Schools called last Wednesday to report the assault at G.W. Bulluck Elementary School.
After an investigation, Regina Gray, 47, was arrested Monday and charged with assault by strangulation, assault on an individual with disability, and misdemeanor child abuse.

According to court documents, Gray caused a physical injury after grabbing the child by the neck.
Gray, of Conetoe, was being held at the Edgecombe County Detention Center on a $20,000 secured bond.
