TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A White House compact remains in front of the University of Arizona leadership, and it’s getting attention.

The faculty senate voted to tell administrators to reject it, and the Tucson City Council could weigh in.

The city council resolution opposes the compact, which university leadership has yet to accept or reject.

“I knew that the city needed to step in and advocate for the interests of our community,” said Ward 5 Tucson City Councilmember Rocque Perez.

Perez and the vice mayor proposed a resolution opposing the compact in front of the University of Arizona, which offers benefits for changes.

“Taking action like this at the federal level and really cornering the university is really unfortunate,” Perez said.
