KIRKWOOD — A central defender, Kirkwood High's Angelo Brown had plenty to be proud of after the Pioneers' 4-0 nonconference boys soccer victory Tuesday over Clayton.
With their third consecutive victory, the host Pioneers upped their record to 7-3 and posted shutout No. 5. The loss dropped Clayton to 6-6-1.
And Brown, a senior, picked up his first two goals of the season.
"Honestly, I feel best about getting the clean sheet,'' he said. "Scoring goals is great and I'm excited about that. But playing strong defense and shutting people down, that's my main job. And that's what I'm proudest of. As a team we came into this season with high hopes, and we feel like we're starting to put some things together."
Kirkwood's other center back, senior Charlie Marino, also scored his first goal of t
