PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria tattoo artist Mario Davis, accused of grooming a teenager, took the stand in his own defense on Tuesday, claiming the alleged victim’s sister was among a group of people trying to ruin him.

Davis testified after jurors heard from the 16-year-old girl who prosecutors said was the recipient of sexually explicit Snapchat texts during the early morning hours of Feb. 12, 2025.

The 34-year-old Peoria man said he was sleeping when the Snapchat messages occurred.

Davis suggested others might have had access to his electronic devices because he didn’t lock up his shop and his key fob broke, so anyone could get into his vehicle. Davis also said his phone didn’t have a passcode.
