NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - An $8 million technology upgrade is on the way to the Normal Police Department after a council vote Monday night.

The department will sign a 10-year agreement with Axon for an unlimited plan to help with upgrades to body cameras, in-car cameras, interview rooms, and digital evidence.

Steve Petrilli, Normal’s chief of police, said the department currently uses a hardware server to store digital evidence, but the new system allows them to manage evidence more easily with unlimited cloud storage.
