Kosta Diamantis, a former state deputy budget director, is accused of demanding bribes from construction firms in exchange for state contracts.

On day 1 of testimony, prosecutors showed the jury text conversations which they say shows Diamantis telling a contractor he can steer projects to him if he gets paid.

Diamantis is being represented by well-know defense attorney Norm Pattis.
