At 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a frost advisory valid for Thursday between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. for Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison, Oneida and Cortland counties.

The weather service describes, "Areas of frost will be possible tonight into early Thursday morning as temperatures fall into the low to mid 30s and winds become lighter."

"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered," explains the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
