On Wednesday at 1:28 a.m. a freeze watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Thursday 11 p.m. until Friday 9 a.m. for Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, Greene and Ulster counties.

The weather service says, "Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 degrees possible."

"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Frost and cold temperatures could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered," adds the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
