A shooter is on the run after a man was gunned down in Sydney's north-west this evening.

Emergency services were called to Annaluke Street in Riverstone about 6pm, where they found a man with gunshot wounds.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

The man has not yet been identified.

About 15 minutes later, emergency services were called about a car fire nearby on Riverstone Road, near Clarke Street.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the car was destroyed.

Police have set up crime scenes where both incidents happened as they investigate whether the crimes were linked.
