NEW DELHI: A joint Delhi and Gurgaon police team shot dead the prime suspect in the murder of a city doctor - Dr Yogesh Chander Paul in Jangpura last year - in an "encounter" at southeast Delhi's Aastha Kunj Park early Tuesday. Police said the suspect, Bhim Mahabahadur Jora, was intercepted and shot after he fired at the cops. Jora had recently also targeted a BJP functionary's house in Gurgaon. This was a rare occasion where a man not affiliated with an organised gang was killed in an encounter in the city. Police sources said this was a message to criminals who targeted the elderly in the city, many of whom live alone.
