ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man charged in connection with a shooting on South Carolina State University’s campus has been granted bond.

Orangeburg County court records show Matthew David McCoy, 18, was given a bond totaling $87,000 following an Oct. 5 hearing.

According to public records, McCoy was handed a $50,000 surety bond for the charge of carrying weapons on school property, and a $37,000 surety bond for the pointing and presenting firearms at a person.

McCoy is required to have GPS monitoring, and he is not allowed to leave the state, nor can he return to South Carolina State University’s campus, records show.
