Former Collingwood player Shannon John Cox has been jailed after killing two elderly women in a head-on crash when driving with meth in his system.

Cox pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter over the fatal incident, when he was driving to collect his wife from prison and was sleep-deprived, the WA Supreme Court was told.

His 12-year old daughter was in the car when Cox fell asleep behind the wheel heading south on the Brand Hwy near Cooljarloo, in WA’s Wheatbelt, at 8.55am on June 7 last year.

Christian Owens was driving a prime mover in the opposite direction and moved to avoid a collision when he saw Cox drift to the wrong side of the road.
