DETROIT -- Casey Mize will take the mound Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park for what could be the Tigers’ biggest game of the season.

Mize will be tasked with keeping Detroit’s season going when he starts Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the Seattle Mariners.

The Tigers lost to the Mariners 8-4 on Tuesday night . They trail the best-of-five ALDS two games to one.

It’s been a full week since Mize’s last outing, his postseason debut in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series in Cleveland. He allowed only one hit, a solo home run by rookie George Valera in the first inning, and was lifted after walking a leadoff batter in the fourth.

The Tigers lost that game but beat the Guardians in Game 3 to advance to the ALDS.
