As the government shutdown continues, the delays and cancellations are steadily growing around the United States. On Sunday, Southwest Airlines raised concerns by announcing nearly 1,000 flight disruptions in a single day .

Those issues have continued for all major U.S. airlines heading into the current week. On Monday, American Airlines, United and Southwest combined for 2,488 disruptions in a single day .

Although the numbers were lower on Tuesday, they still presented challenges for the major airlines across the U.S., especially American Airlines, which had to deal with a malfunction during its short flight between Detroit and Chicago.
