Former Celtic and Scotland football heroes are set to join an ex-player with MND on a 150-mile trek to raise funds to tackle the disease.
Andy Walker and ex-Premier League striker John McGinlay will join former pro Martin Johnston, who is living with MND , from Friday. The trio will walk from Motherwell’s Fir Park to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, visiting 21 football grounds along the way of the three-day challenge.
The event was inspired by footballers Marcus Stewart and Stephen Darby, both diagnosed with MND, and held in memory of rugby legend Doddie Weir OBE , who died with the disease in 2022. The team hopes to raise £50,000 to be shared between the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation and My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
