A group of children from Chicago who took part in a “mock conclave” that went viral online showed up at the Pope’s weekly audience dressed in their red cardinal outfits.
At the end of the audience on Wednesday, Pope Leo XIV rushed over to greet them and take a photo with them.
The children are part of a pilgrimage group of about 80 people from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Academy in Chicago.
Pope Leo XIV, formerly Robert Prevost, was born and raised on the south side of Chicago.
