Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Rs 19,650-crore Navi Mumbai International Airport, marking a major leap in India’s aviation infrastructure and connectivity.
Dedicating the airport to the nation, the Prime Minister said the project symbolises India’s growing aspirations and his government’s commitment to ensuring that air travel is no longer a luxury for the few.
“Back in 2014, I had promised that those who wear hawai chappals would also be able to board hawai jahaz. Today, that promise is being fulfilled,” Modi said, addressing a large gathering in Mumbai.
