Cleveland Heights City Council unanimously approved $1.75 million in funding for the Park Synagogue redevelopment project during Tony Cuda’s first regularly-scheduled council meeting as mayor on Oct. 6.
A grant agreement with Friends of Mendelsohn, a nonprofit that seeks to preserve the historic campus, was agreed upon and passed by council at $750,000, with a waiver of city permit fees up to $250,000, to fund trails, walkways, sidewalks, site lighting and landscaping improvements to the property at 3300 Mayfield Road. Council also gave approval for an agreement with Park Synagogue Borrower, LLC for a $750,000 commercial development 30-year loan to help with improvements on the site.
