Thanks to more than an inch of rain across a four-day stretch, Flagstaff closed out the month of September ahead of its normal precipitation total.
Finishing the month at 1.9 inches of precipitation, September surpassed the average of 1.84 inches and finished as the highest precipitation total for the month since 3.1 inches fell during the month in 2014. A total of 1.1 inches, about 58% of the month’s total, fell Sept. 25-28, with the final day capping off the stretch with 0.42 inches alone to become the third-highest precipitation total for the date in history.
