A writer dubbed the next JK Rowling has clinched a megabucks deal with Disney to adapt her fantasy book series on the big screen. Katherine Rundell’s Impossible Creatures will become a film franchise and is set to become a hit like Harry Potter. ‌

It tells the story of Christopher who embarks on an urgent quest to discover why magical characters, including unicorns, griffins and sphinxes, are vanishing from the secret islands of Archipelago. The movie production team will be led by Alexandra Derbyshire, producer of Paddington 2 and Wonka, and ex-Pixar chief Simon Bax. ‌
