A Kilmarnock woman has opened her heart on the pain of losing a child over 36 years ago. ‌

Carol Greer's baby girl, also named Carol, was stillborn on July 18, 1989. ‌

Carol has since spoken openly about how the support surrounding the tragic death of an infant has evolved over the years. ‌

Back then, no formal support for the death of a baby was in place. Hospital staff took a few Polaroid pictures, and the family got some of their own pictures of Carol and other relatives holding baby Carol.

Carol who is a befriender at Ayrshire Baby Loss Support, also has a few special keepsakes which she still cherishes over three decades later. This includes a small clipping of baby Carol’s hair, and her hospital bracelet.
