Athletic Club Boise announced Tuesday that a notable local figure has joined the team’s ownership group.

Sofia Huerta, a Boise native and professional soccer player, adds her name to the growing list of high-profile connections to Boise’s upstart professional men’s soccer team — the club announced in July that former U.S. Men’s National Team goalie Kasey Keller was joining the AC Boise ownership group.

Huerta, a Centennial High graduate, is a defender on the Seattle Reign FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and member of the U.S. Women’s National Team. She played for the U.S. in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and is among the top career assist leaders in NWSL history.
